Pest Fox is an Adelaide pest and termite control business working across metro Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills. We run it the way we’d want one run in our own kitchen and under our own floorboards: clear about the termite standards, APVMA-registered products only, and quoted in writing before any product goes near the property.
The name carries the local-knowledge brief in two words. It’s the only place on the site we’ll lean on it — we figure the work speaks louder than the metaphor.
Why local knowledge matters for Adelaide homes
A 1920s villa with a suspended timber floor and a 1990s slab home are very different termite jobs. The older home was built before modern termite-management standards, so it usually has no designed termite management system at all, and the inspection focuses on subfloor timbers, piers and moisture. A newer home built under AS 3660.1 should have a termite management system from construction — look for the durable notice, often in the meter box — and the inspection checks that system is intact. Getting that distinction right is what keeps a small problem from becoming a structural-repair bill.
Adelaide’s pest pressure varies across the metro area. The eastern suburbs have plenty of older stone-and-timber homes. The coastal strip adds salt-air and moisture-related timber decay to the termite picture. The Hills bring bushland-fringe rodents and possums, plus European wasps in spring and summer. The northern suburbs have a lot of post-war housing built before current termite standards.
That’s the patch. Reading it correctly is the job.
What we do — two kinds of job, one operator
Pest Fox handles two quite different kinds of work inside one business.
Same-day general pest. Cockroaches, ants, spiders, rodents, wasps, bees, fleas, silverfish, bed bugs. You want action. Book early in the day and we’ll aim to get to you the same day across metro Adelaide. Products are APVMA-registered and applied to the label, and re-entry rules are walked through with you before the technician leaves — typically 1–2 hours indoors once treated surfaces are dry, but the label sets the time.
Standards-led termite work. Inspections, treatments, barriers. Inspections follow AS 4349.3-2010 (timber pest inspections) and the guidance in AS 3660.2-2017 (existing buildings). Barrier work on new builds and extensions follows AS 3660.1-2014. Thermal imaging, moisture metering and termite radar where the wall cavity calls for it. Annual inspection programs available.

Licensing and standards — what to check with any pest controller
Whoever you book, these are the things worth checking:
- Pest Controller’s licence. In South Australia, any business offering pest control for payment must hold a Pest Controller’s licence issued by SA Health’s Controlled Substances Licensing, under the Controlled Substances Act 1984 and the Controlled Substances (Pesticides) Regulations 2017.
- Pest Management Technician licence. Anyone applying pesticides for payment must hold a Full or Limited Pest Management Technician licence. Full technicians carry a photo ID card that shows the types of pest control work they’re endorsed for — ask to see it. SA Health also runs an online licence look-up for businesses and technicians.
- APVMA-registered products. The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority registers pest control chemicals in Australia. We use registered products applied to the label conditions, and we don’t sell “natural” or “chemical-free” placebos.
- The right termite standard. AS 3660.1-2014 covers new building work, AS 3660.2-2017 covers termite management in and around existing buildings, and AS 4349.3-2010 covers timber pest inspections.
- Insurance. Ask any contractor for a current certificate of currency before work starts.
What to expect when you call us
- You call or send the quote form. We answer between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays. After hours, the form comes through and we pick it up first thing the next business day. For genuine emergencies (wasp swarms, food-premises rodents, active termite swarms), see the emergency page.
- We come back promptly. For general pest, that’s usually a booking offer — same day where we can. For termite work, it’s a written inspection quote and an inspection time that suits you.
- The technician arrives with the right kit. Diagnostic gear on a termite job (thermal imaging, moisture meter, termite radar, borescope) and application gear on a pest job (sprayer, dust applicator, gel bait kit).
- The work gets explained before it gets done. The product, the label rate, the re-entry timing for areas inside, and what’s included. Termite inspections come with a written report, including photographs and recommended next steps.
- We follow up. Quarterly or annual schedules on general pest where you’ve booked one, and annual inspection reminders on termite work.
How we work — three principles
- Quote in writing before the application. Every job, including same-day. No verbal “she’ll be right” pricing.
- The right standard on every termite job. AS 3660.1 for new building work, AS 3660.2 for existing buildings, AS 4349.3 for timber pest inspections. Older homes built before modern termite-management standards need a different approach, and we explain that before quoting.
- Safety, said plainly. APVMA-registered products applied to the label. Re-entry timing explained. We don’t claim chemical-free if we’re using chemicals — we use the right products at the right rates and we say so.
Where we work
Greater Adelaide metro and the Adelaide Hills — from Gawler in the north to Sellicks Beach in the south, and east to the Mount Barker township. The five regional pages — Eastern Suburbs, Western Suburbs, Northern Suburbs, Southern Suburbs and Adelaide Hills — list the suburbs we cover and the pest profile specific to each.
Outside that footprint? Send a photo through the quote form and we’ll tell you straight whether we can help.
